Key

You say I’m the key

To your heart’s desire.

Everything you’ve ever wanted

Resides in me.

But I am a lockless key.

I have no use for a lock on me.

Before me is my journey

With this finite time, I have places to be.

Worlds to admire before I tire,

Pick the surest fruit from my fig tree.

To open yourself is your own journey.

Use a crowbar, or your nails — bleed.

Of what consequence is it to me?

Find the vessel that holds your soul;

Trace its shape — take an eternity.

And once the cast is fully revealed,

Take it off — and be!

All you get is this one life,

And long is your journey.

Now, I will leave you to it and return to mine -

For I have wasted my time, respectfully.
